Welcome / bienvenue to McGill Libraries! I’m honoured to be your new Trenholme Dean of Libraries and very happy to serve alongside the exceptional team of information experts and service professionals who make it their mission to support the teaching, learning and research needs of the McGill community. Library staff members are keen to engage with you, so please do not hesitate to ask us if you need assistance. Visit us in-person during service hours or connect via chat, email, or text.

Our branches are busier and more central to the student experience than ever – especially at this time of year. Whether you book a group study room, take out a laptop, or (re)discover your favourite reading nook, take the time to explore the spaces and places that make the Library a “home away from home” for many students.

If you are looking to take your learning to the next level, our workshops cover numerous topics including information literacy, reference management, scholarly communications, research data management, and more. Visit our Digital Scholarship Hub and Innovation Commons for a wide-range of maker-space resources, equipment, software tools, and specialized training sessions.

We also invite you to take advantage of the rich materials in one of the most unique collections in North America. We offer access to almost 7 million books and journals, over 4.5 million e-books, e-theses and e-journals, and hundreds of thousands of sound and video recordings, musical scores, microforms, and maps. Start to search for materials needed for your studies in Sofia, our catalogue, subject guides, and course reserves & readings. And if we don’t have what you are looking for, we will find it for you through our Interlibrary Loans service.

When you stay well, you do well. Please remember the Libraries when thinking about your health and wellness needs. From hybrid events to curated book displays, streaming services to consumer health information, the Library’s Health and Wellness page offers resources that will help to make your time at McGill productive, happy, and healthy.

Campus has come alive again and we look forward to delivering the information and services you need. I welcome your feedback on how McGill Libraries can best serve you. Please do not hesitate to contact me at guylaine.beaudry@mcgill.ca .

Wishing you a most successful term!

Sincerely,

Dr. Guylaine Beaudry, Trenholme Dean of Libraries, McGill University Libraries
