Explore the Quebec skiing history collection

A newly highlighted collection at McGill Libraries captures this rich history of skiing in Montreal and Quebec during the first half of the twentieth century.

The collection consists of photographs, hotel advertisements and informational pamphlets, postcards, and ephemera illustrating the history of skiing in Montreal and Quebec in the first half of the twentieth century. Approximately 122 black and white photographs and photograph fragments depict skiing locations such as Mount Royal and Ste-Agathe, as well as clubs like the Manitou Club. There are also approximately 74 advertising pamphlets and related documented produced by lodges and ski resorts in the Laurentians region of Quebec with their prices and services, such as ski schools. The collection also includes 28 photographic postcards depicting skiing and ski resorts, chiefly from the Laurentians.

Une nouvelle collection mise en valeur aux Bibliothèques de McGill retrace la riche histoire du ski à Montréal et au Québec durant la première moitié du XXᵉ siècle.

La collection est composée de photographies, de publicités d’hôtels et de dépliants informatifs, de cartes postales et d’éphéméra illustrant l’histoire du ski à Montréal et au Québec au cours de la première moitié du XXᵉ siècle. Environ 122 photographies et fragments de photographies en noir et blanc montrent des lieux de ski comme le mont Royal et Sainte-Agathe, ainsi que des clubs tels que le Manitou Club. On y trouve également environ 74 dépliants publicitaires et documents connexes produits par des auberges et stations de ski de la région des Laurentides, présentant leurs tarifs et services, notamment les écoles de ski. La collection comprend aussi 28 cartes postales photographiques représentant des scènes de ski et des stations de ski, principalement dans les Laurentides.
