New program for community groups: Partner with McGill Libraries to digitize your heritage collections!

We’re excited to announce the launch of Community Digitization Partnerships, a new initiative from McGill Libraries’ Digitization Lab. These partnerships are designed to support Quebec-based community organizations, cultural institutions, and academic collaborators in preserving and sharing their heritage collections.

Through this program, we’re offering two new services:

Employee working at a computer next to a flat bed scanner reviewing a digitized black and white image of a graduating class.
  1. Training and Capacity Building
Looking to lead your own digitization projects? We provide workshops on planning, equipment, workflows, and best practices. Participants will learn from our digitization, metadata, and copyright experts and build the skills to sustain their own projects.
  2. In-kind Digitization at McGill
For organizations that prefer professional digitization, we offer free, in-kind digitization of paper-based materials at our lab. This includes high-quality scanning of books, photos, maps, and more.

Both services aim to extend McGill Libraries’ reach beyond campus and help communities safeguard their history for future generations.

Submit your application and learn more about the programme.
