Colour Our Collections: McGill Edition

February is Colour Our Collections month – and even if it’s not formally organized this year (the last global campaign launched by The New York Academy of Medicine Library wrapped in 2024), that doesn’t mean that we can’t brighten up our days with a little splash of colour.

To celebrate, we’re sharing two McGill-themed colouring pages drawn from the Old McGill yearbooks. Both are frontispieces: one from 1912, is rich with owls, the light of knowledge, and our martlet-filled crest; the other from 1961, features the iconic Roddick Gates. Take a moment, pick up some markers, crayons, pencils, and enjoy bringing these pieces of McGill history to life. Feel free to visit the Old McGill Yearbooks site for more inspiration – we’ve digitized the collection of Old McGill Yearbooks from 1898 to 2000 and Clan Macdonald Yearbooks from 1931 to 2000.

Share your finished piece with us by tagging us and using #McGillColouring on Instagram or Facebook – we’d love to see your work!

Special thanks to Greg Houston, Digitization & New Media Administrator for formatting and prepping the Roddick Gates image. 1912 illustration by R.G.C.
